The Community Women Action Started 18 years ago when a 14 year old girl was brutally gang raped and murdered. This incident sparked the community to take action against violent crime and address the need for constructive programs to develop the skills of Women and Youth. The Organization started with a small winter school program in 1999 and now 20 years later we have become a Skills Development Center empowering Women and Youth across the Metro.
Community Women Action seeks to drive the Agenda of Sustainable Development by providing Youth and Vulnerable Women with the necessary skills to become the drivers of their own success and social innovators within their own communities. Our Programs address the some of the challenges faced by women and youth in our local communities and globally and are aligned to speak to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Driven by strong willed women who suffered various abuses in the past, the CWA is dedicated to the development and empowerment of Individuals. Offering Skills Programs and Support our mission is to empower the community with the necessary skills needed to become Self Sustainable, Self Reliant and Employable.
